WORTH COUNTY, MO – One person was killed and another injured in a multi-motorcycle crash on Missouri Highway 46 Saturday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Route F and Highway 46, approximately three miles east of Sheridan. Four motorcycles were traveling eastbound on Highway 46 when a 2017 Harley Davidson, operated by a 65-year-old man from Bedford, attempted to turn left onto Route F.
According to authorities, a 2025 Harley Davidson driven by a 44-year-old man from Winterset failed to react in time and collided with the slowing motorcycle. This caused the Winterset man to be ejected from his bike.
A third motorcycle, a 2021 Harley Davidson operated by a 47-year-old man from Bedford, then struck the overturned 2017 Harley, resulting in him being ejected as well. A fourth motorcycle, a 2025 model driven by a man from Patterson, Iowa, ran over the Winterset rider in an attempt to avoid the crash.
The Winterset man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bedford rider was transported to Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville with moderate injuries. None of the motorcyclists were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident.
Emergency response included the Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Worth County EMS, Sheridan Fire, and Grant City Fire. The investigation is ongoing.
