ODESSA, Texas — A high-speed collision at the intersection of West Yukon Road and Golder Avenue left one motorcyclist dead late Wednesday night.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., Odessa Police and Fire Rescue responded to reports of a “major crash” in the 400 block of W Yukon Rd.
According to the Odessa Police Department, the incident involved an Orange Nissan Sentra and a black Indian motorcycle. The Sentra was traveling westbound and attempted to make a left turn onto Golder Ave. during a flashing yellow light.
At the same time, the motorcycle was reportedly traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when the vehicles collided.
Jose Marquez, 23, the motorcyclist, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Sentra sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Medical Center Hospital.
An ongoing investigation has been launched into the crash.
