MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A motorcycle crash has resulted in the closure of I-95 Southbound near Martin County, according to authorities.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at mile marker 98, north of Hobe Sound, just south of Kanner Highway. The driver was airlifted to a local hospital with traumatic injuries.
Martin County Fire Rescue reported heavy flames from the motorcycle at the scene, and firefighters worked to extinguish the fire while paramedics attended to the driver. LifeStar was subsequently called to assist with the airlift.
Authorities confirmed that southbound lanes were initially reopened but were closed again shortly after due to a subsequent crash. Details regarding additional vehicles involved or any injuries from the second incident have not yet been released.
Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the crashes. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
