MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A motorcycle crash has resulted in the closure of I-95 Southbound near Martin County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred near mile marker 98, just north of Hobe Sound, around 7 p.m. Authorities reported that the driver of the motorcycle sustained traumatic injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
Martin County Fire Rescue responded to extinguish flames from the motorcycle and provide medical assistance. LifeStar was dispatched for the airlift.
As a result of the incident, all southbound lanes were initially closed. Though lanes were briefly reopened, they were subsequently shut down again due to another crash shortly thereafter.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the number of vehicles involved or any additional injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
