DELMAR, Del. – A motorcycle crash claimed the lives of a woman and an 11-year-old girl on Whitesville Road Saturday morning.
According to Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. The two were riding a motorcycle west of Robin Hood Road when they collided with a Ford rollback truck making a left turn into a private driveway. A Dodge truck was also present in the area.
Police reported the motorcycle passed the Dodge in a no-passing zone shortly before the collision. Both the operator, a 36-year-old woman, and her passenger, the girl, were ejected from the motorcycle. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The girl was confirmed deceased at the scene. Their identities are being withheld pending family notification.
The driver of the rollback truck, a 19-year-old, was uninjured. Whitesville Road was closed for approximately four hours as the scene was investigated and cleared. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
