A motorcyclist died Monday evening in a head-on collision on State Highway 155 in Vilas County, authorities reported.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:08 p.m. just south of South Lost Lake Drive in the town of St. Germain, according to the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office.
A 911 caller reported the crash, indicating that the motorcycle operator was unresponsive. The first deputy on scene confirmed the motorcyclist was deceased.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries but was taken to a local hospital in non-life-threatening condition, according to authorities.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 64-year-old man was operating the motorcycle northbound on State Highway 155 when he crossed the center line while navigating a curve, entering the path of the oncoming vehicle.
The motorcyclist’s name is being withheld pending family notification.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is leading the ongoing investigation into the incident.
The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol, St. Germain Fire/Rescue, and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office.
