WATERTOWN, SD — A motorcycle crash occurred on July 31, 2026, at approximately 9:08 PM near the intersection of 7th Ave. SE and 5th St. SE, resulting in minor injuries to the rider.
According to the Watertown Police Department, a 22-year-old male from Watertown was operating a blue 2002 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on 5th St. SE at a high rate of speed. An unknown vehicle turned onto 5th St. SE from 7th Ave. SE, leading the motorcyclist to brake hard, causing the motorcycle to tip over.
The rider, who was wearing a helmet, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital for treatment. Speed was identified as a contributing factor, and the rider was cited for Careless Driving.
Traffic in the area was disrupted for approximately 20 minutes. Watertown Fire Rescue and Performance Towing assisted on scene.
