ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. – A motorcycle crash late Friday night resulted in one fatality and serious injuries to another person on U.S. Highway 231.
First responders were dispatched to the 4700 block of U.S. Highway 231 at approximately 11:05 p.m., where they located two victims. Authorities identified the deceased as 17-year-old Bailee Ward, who died at the scene. The other individual was transported to a Montgomery hospital with serious injuries; their identity has not been released.
Southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 231 were closed for about two hours during the investigation. Emergency response included local law enforcement and medical personnel.
The crash remains under investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.
Reeltown High School issued a statement Saturday, expressing condolences for the tragic loss of their former student.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation.
