VALLEY CENTER, Kan. — A motorcycle accident claimed the life of 46-year-old Guerrero Moreno Jr. on Monday night, exactly two years after his wife and son died in another crash.
According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Moreno was involved in a collision with an SUV while riding north of Valley Center at around 8:00 p.m.
Two years earlier, on July 27, 2024, his wife, Erin Moreno, a teacher in the Valley Center school district, and their son, 17, were killed in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of Monday’s crash, but Moreno was pronounced dead at the site.
A GoFundMe page has been established to support the surviving sons, aged 11 and 14. The campaign aims to raise funds for Moreno’s funeral and to assist with the boys’ immediate and future needs.
“Guerrero’s greatest pride and joy were his sons. They are now facing the heartbreaking reality of growing up without either of their parents,” the page states.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash; no further details have been confirmed.
