COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A serious crash involving a motorcycle and an RV occurred on East Platte Avenue on September 30 at approximately 3:05 p.m.
According to Colorado Springs Police, the collision happened around 2200 East Platte Avenue, near the intersection of Platte and Union.
Authorities said the motorcycle was traveling eastbound when the RV, which was towing a trailer, slowed to turn right into a parking lot.
The motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the trailer, leading to the rider being ejected from the bike.
Bystanders rendered initial assistance until emergency responders arrived to transport the rider to a local hospital, where they are being treated for serious, life-threatening injuries.
CSPD confirmed that the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Investigators believe that drugs, alcohol, or speed did not contribute to the incident.
The accident resulted in lane closures while authorities conducted their investigation.
