HONOLULU (Local News Wire) – A motorcycle crash on North Nimitz Highway left a 32-year-old man in critical condition on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. near Main Street in the airport area, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
Authorities reported the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended a 28-year-old vehicle driver.
The motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The motorist remained at the scene and did not sustain injuries.
Initial reports suggest speed was a contributing factor. It remains unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved. The investigation is ongoing.
