Motorcycle Crash Near Leeton Caused by Animal in Roadway.

A 43-year-old Leeton man sustained moderate injuries in a motorcycle crash while swerving to avoid an animal on Route 2 Thursday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. as the man was riding west on Route 2. Following the collision, the motorcycle crossed the center line and veered off the right side of the highway before overturning, which resulted in the rider being ejected.

Emergency responders transported the man to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities noted that he was not wearing appropriate safety gear at the time of the accident. The roadway was briefly affected during the emergency response; however, it has since been cleared.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
