Motorcycle crash on AL-67 in Decatur claims one life.

DECATUR, Ala. – A motorcycle crash on Alabama Highway 67 resulted in one fatality Saturday night at approximately 9:10 p.m.

Officers from the Decatur Police Department and Decatur Fire and Rescue responded to the incident near the railroad tracks close to AL-20. Emergency crews pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene.

According to authorities, traffic on AL-67 was halted for an approaching train with fully operational crossing arms and warning lights. The investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with an SUV before striking the train.

The deceased motorcyclist was identified as 57-year-old Leroy Goodwin Jr. The Decatur Police Department’s Traffic Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

No lane closures were reported following the incident, and no other injuries were confirmed.
