SACRAMENTO, CA (AP) — A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 80 left one person dead and several others injured on Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. near the Madison Avenue exit.
Authorities confirmed that three vehicles were involved, resulting in one fatality and four individuals transported to local hospitals with moderate injuries.
Emergency responders from the Sacramento Fire Department arrived on scene to assist and conduct medical evaluations.
Officials reported that two westbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours as crews cleared the wreckage and conducted an investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
