Marion County Motorcycle Crash Injures Two

A motorcycle crash at Highway 61 and West Ely Road in Marion County on Friday, October 13, left two Hannibal residents injured, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 7:08 p.m. when a southbound 2026 CF Moto motorcycle failed to yield to a traffic signal and collided with an eastbound 2009 Mercury Milan, authorities stated.

The 19-year-old male motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted by Survival Flight to University Hospital in Columbia with injuries. A 21-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle, who was not wearing safety equipment, was also transported to the same hospital with injuries.

The driver of the Mercury Milan, a 55-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and did not report any injuries.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the motorcycle being declared totaled. Heartland Towing of Hannibal towed both vehicles from the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol received assistance from the Hannibal Police Department, Marion County Ambulance, and the Hannibal Fire Department.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
