A motorcycle crash at Highway 61 and West Ely Road in Marion County injured two Hannibal residents on Friday evening, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:08 p.m. when a southbound 2026 CF Moto motorcycle failed to yield at a traffic signal, striking an eastbound 2009 Mercury Milan, authorities said.
The 19-year-old male motorcyclist, wearing a helmet, was airlifted by Survival Flight to University Hospital in Columbia with injuries. A 21-year-old female passenger, who was not wearing safety equipment, was also transported with injuries.
The driver of the Mercury Milan, a 55-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt; no injuries were reported for her, according to the report.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, with the motorcycle deemed totaled. Heartland Towing of Hannibal towed both vehicles from the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol received assistance from the Hannibal Police Department, Marion County Ambulance, and the Hannibal Fire Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
