Motorcycle rider critically injured in I-94 crash in Cass County.

CASS COUNTY, N.D. — A 62-year-old man was seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 4:46 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-94, approximately three miles east of Mapleton, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

A motorcycle was traveling in the right lane, followed by a Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado attempted to shift into the passing lane and collided with a Nissan Rogue, causing a chain reaction.

The Nissan struck the motorcycle, which then collided with another Chevrolet Silverado, authorities said.

The motorcycle operator, who was wearing a helmet, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital. His identity has not been disclosed.

The drivers of the Nissan Rogue, both Silverados, and a passenger reportedly sustained no injuries and were wearing seat belts.

Authorities indicated the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
