Two serious accidents were reported over the weekend in Southern Idaho, including a fatal motorcycle crash in Burley and a semi-truck rollover in Jerome.
On Friday, at approximately 10:21 p.m., a crash occurred at 1033 W Bedke Blvd in Burley, involving a motorcycle and a Jeep. According to the Idaho State Police, a 59-year-old man from Heyburn was riding a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 33-year-old man from Burley.
The motorcycle rider, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene. The driver of the Jeep, wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital. This incident marks the second fatal motorcycle accident involving a Jeep reported by ISP on the same day.
Earlier that day, at 11:22 a.m., ISP reported another fatal motorcycle accident near Bear Lake, resulting in the death of a motorcycle rider. Authorities stated there have been 12 fatal motorcycle accidents during the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer this year, a decrease from 16 during the same period in 2024. ISP is currently investigating both incidents.
In a separate incident, a semi-truck rollover blocked lanes in Jerome for several hours. The 26-year-old driver from Washington did not wear a seatbelt but reported no injuries. Details on lane closures and emergency response efforts were not included.
