Two serious accidents occurred over the weekend in Idaho: a fatal motorcycle crash in Burley on Friday night and a semi-truck rollover in Jerome.
According to the Idaho State Police, the motorcycle crash happened at 10:21 p.m. on Friday at 1033 W Bedke Blvd, involving a 59-year-old man from Heyburn. The motorcycle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 33-year-old man from Burley.
The Jeep driver was wearing a seatbelt and reported minor injuries but declined medical transportation. The motorcycle rider, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier that day, at 11:22 a.m., a separate motorcycle versus Jeep crash near Bear Lake also resulted in a fatality. Idaho State Police are investigating both incidents.
In the semi-truck rollover in Jerome, authorities reported that a 26-year-old male from Washington was involved. Although he was not wearing a seatbelt, he did not sustain any injuries. The incident blocked lanes for several hours while emergency crews cleared the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the series of accidents, marking 12 fatal motorcycle incidents reported during the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer in 2023.
