Sam Kangas Killed in Motorcycle Crash near Fewins Road and Burnt Mill Road in Benzie County
Benzie County, Michigan (September 14, 2023) – A male rider died after crashing into the rear of a pickup truck near an intersection in Benzie County, Northern Michigan, according to Benzie County Sheriff’s Office.
As per the report, the deadly collision happened at about 10 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, near Fewins Road and Burnt Mill Road in Inland Township.
Authorities say a 2016 Dodge Ram, driven by 44-year-old Interlochen man Kyle Poff, and a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Sam Edward Kangas, 53, of Interlochen, were involved in the crash.
Poff was driving the Dodge westbound on Fewins Road when it was rear-ended by the motorcycle.
Kangas sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Initial investigation indicates speed was a factor in the collision. Kangas was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
No additional details regarding the crash were provided.
