KANSAS CITY, Kan. (WIBW) – A hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV left one rider seriously injured on Interstate 70 Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 12:38 p.m. near the Interstate 70 and Interstate 635 interchange, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that a 2026 Yamaha motorcycle passed a Hyundai SUV before the Hyundai swerved, striking the motorcycle.
Following the impact, the motorcycle rider lost control, colliding with the right guardrail and coming to a stop on the off-ramp to northbound I-635.
The rider, identified as 32-year-old Jordan G. Collumbus of Kansas City, was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital with serious injuries. Authorities confirmed Collumbus was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
No additional details about the incident were immediately available. Investigations are ongoing.
