Motorcycle Rider Sustains Serious Injuries in Rear-End Collision in Sumner County on Sunday.

WELLINGTON, Kan. (WIBW) – A rear-end collision involving a motorcycle and a car left two individuals injured Sunday afternoon in Sumner County.

The incident occurred at 2:20 p.m. on eastbound US-160, approximately 6 miles east of Wellington, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A 2002 Chevrolet Impala struck the rear of a 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle for reasons currently under investigation.

The motorcycle rider, 44-year-old Shannon Skinner of Haysville, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, where authorities reported he was wearing a helmet.

A passenger on the motorcycle, Kimberly Davidson, 39, of Anthony, sustained suspected minor injuries and was also taken to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital; she was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 64-year-old Allision Leedy of Ponca City, Oklahoma, was transported to William Newton Hospital in Winfield with suspected minor injuries; she was wearing a seat belt.

Emergency response teams attended the scene, but no further details on road closures were available as the investigation continues.
