Motorcyclist, 20, seriously injured in Detroit crash on highway ramp

A 20-year-old motorcyclist is hospitalized following a crash on a highway ramp in Detroit early Saturday, according to Michigan State Police. The incident occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. on the ramp from eastbound Interstate 96 to northbound Interstate 75.

Authorities reported that the motorcyclist, from Eastpointe, Michigan, was traveling at nearly 100 miles per hour when he lost control while navigating a curve. The motorcycle collided with a concrete wall, causing both the rider and the bike to tumble over the wall and down a grass embankment.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, and the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries. The northbound lanes of I-75 near the crash site were closed for about two hours while investigators assessed the situation.

The investigation is ongoing.
