OLDTOWN — A motorcycle operator was flown to a Baltimore trauma center following a multi-vehicle crash on state Route 51 Monday morning.
The collision, which occurred around 11:15 a.m., involved a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer, resulting in serious injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to UPMC Western Maryland for treatment, according to the Allegany County Joint Communications Center.
Emergency services responded promptly, with local fire and rescue teams managing the scene. Authorities closed two lanes of Route 51 for approximately two hours to facilitate an investigation and assist with the crash response.
The Maryland State Police are investigating the incident, and further details regarding the circumstances of the crash are pending. No additional injuries or fatalities have been reported at this time.
The roadway has since been reopened.
