KHP: Motorcyclist seriously injured in hit-and-run on I-70 in KCK
KANSAS CITY, Kan. —
A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 70 Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. on eastbound I-70, near the ramp to northbound Interstate 635.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Hyundai SUV collided with a 2026 Yamaha motorcycle after the motorcycle passed in a separate lane.
Authorities reported that the SUV swerved right, striking the motorcycle, which caused the rider to lose control and hit a guardrail.
The 32-year-old male motorcyclist from Kansas City, Kansas, was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center with serious injuries. Emergency officials confirmed he was wearing a helmet.
The SUV fled the scene, and the driver remains unidentified. The investigation is ongoing, and no lanes were reported closed during the response.
