WABASHA, Minn. — A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries following a collision with a deer on Highway 61 on Sunday.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. near milepost 58 in Wabasha County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. A 66-year-old male motorcyclist, wearing a helmet, struck the deer while traveling southbound.
Emergency personnel transported the injured motorcyclist to Wabasha Hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the accident, and road conditions were dry at the time.
The condition of the deer involved in the crash remains undetermined. Responding agencies included the Wabasha Police Department, Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, Wabasha Fire Department, and Wabasha Ambulance Service.
The incident is under investigation.
