ABBEVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A motorcycle crash on Highway 178 resulted in one fatality on Saturday night.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 10:10 p.m. near Rock Springs School Road.
The victim was identified as 32-year-old Zachary G. McCormick of Gray Court, who was operating a 2007 Yamaha sport bike.
Officials stated McCormick was traveling west when he veered off the left side of the roadway, striking a utility pole and then a fence.
The Abbeville County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene at approximately 10:27 p.m. and pronounced McCormick dead at the scene.
Emergency responders included Abbeville County EMS, Abbeville County Fire Department, the Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
