An 85-year-old motorcyclist died from injuries sustained in a crash on U.S. 36 in Miami County on August 18.
Around 2:30 p.m., a 59-year-old man driving a Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck failed to yield while turning left onto Burr Oak New Hope Road, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. The truck struck the rear of a Honda ST1300 motorcycle, operated by Ted Strickler.
Emergency medical personnel transported Strickler to Upper Valley Medical Center. He passed away on August 21 at Miami Valley Hospital, as confirmed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Strickler was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, authorities said. The driver of the pickup truck has been cited for failure to yield.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
