Motorcyclist dies following high-speed chase with Virginia State Police in Virginia Beach.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A motorcyclist was killed after a police pursuit led to a collision with an uninvolved police vehicle early Monday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, the pursuit began around 1:30 a.m. when a trooper attempted to stop a Honda motorcycle for reckless driving on Interstate 264 eastbound, near Rosemont Road.

The motorcycle exited I-264 at Lynnhaven Parkway, exceeding 100 miles per hour. At the intersection of Fern Ridge Road and Lynnhaven Parkway, it struck a VBPD vehicle.

The motorcyclist was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. One VBPD officer sustained injuries and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles. This incident is currently under investigation.
