LEWES, Del. – A 48-year-old motorcyclist died following a crash on Coastal Highway on September 1, according to Delaware State Police.
At approximately 6:10 p.m., a Kia Sorento, driven by a 77-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, was traveling north on Route 1 when it attempted a turn onto Bay Crossing Boulevard. Simultaneously, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading south toward the same intersection.
Authorities said the Kia made a U-turn, entering the path of the motorcycle, which subsequently struck the passenger side of the vehicle. The motorcyclist was ejected and transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not yet been released.
The driver of the Kia did not sustain any injuries. The investigation remains ongoing, and DSP is urging any witnesses to come forward by contacting 302-703-3266.
