A motorcyclist died in a two-vehicle crash late Tuesday night on Charles Bancroft Highway in Litchfield, New Hampshire.
At approximately 11 p.m., Litchfield Police and Fire Departments, along with Hudson Ambulance, responded to a 911 call reporting the incident at 519 Charles Bancroft Highway.
Upon arrival, authorities found a Toyota RAV4 and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the southbound travel lane. The motorcyclist, identified as 41-year-old Jean Lopes of Hudson, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be conducted by the STATE MEDICAL EXAMINER’S OFFICE.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the motorcycle collided with the rear of the Toyota, which was reportedly reversing onto Charles Bancroft Highway.
The crash prompted an investigation by Litchfield and Hudson police. Charles Bancroft Highway was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation.
