PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A motorcycle crash late Friday night resulted in the death of a 67-year-old man in Putnam County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The incident occurred at approximately 10:57 p.m. on County Road 309, about half a mile north of Fort Gates Ferry Road. Authorities reported that the motorcycle was traveling south when it failed to maintain its lane while taking a left curve, veering off onto the grass shoulder before overturning.
A 50-year-old female passenger was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest 10 to 15 feet away from the vehicle. The motorcycle ended up on its left side, trapping the driver underneath it.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger suffered serious injuries. Neither individual was wearing a helmet, according to FHP. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details regarding lane closures or towing have been provided.
