Motorcyclist Dies in Crash in Wareham, Massachusetts.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Cranberry Highway in Wareham on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., a motorcycle traveling north lost control near 2309 Cranberry Highway, veering into the southbound lane where it was struck by a Mercedes GLC300, according to the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office.

The motorcyclist, identified as 49-year-old Matthew Burns, was found unresponsive at the scene and pronounced dead by Wareham Police and Massachusetts State Police.

Burns was riding with four other motorcyclists at the time; one of them sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Mercedes was hospitalized following the incident. She reported seeing the group of motorcycles before the crash and stated she could not avoid the collision when the motorcycle veered into her lane.

The crash is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police. No further details have been released.
