Motorcyclist Dies in Crash with MINI Cooper in Hickory
HICKORY, N.C. — A 32-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a MINI Cooper on Thursday evening, according to the Hickory Police Department.
The accident occurred at approximately 7:55 p.m. when the motorcyclist, identified as Levi Scovern, was traveling west on 13th Avenue Drive SE. Witnesses reported that the MINI Cooper was exiting the Hampton Inn parking lot and turning left when the motorcyclist struck the rear of the vehicle.
Scovern was transported to Frye Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities indicated that excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
As of Friday, June 19, no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
