Fatal Motorcycle-Semi Truck Crash Investigated in Delaware County
GASTON, Ind. — A motorcycle crash involving a semi-truck left one man dead on State Road 28, just east of I-69, at approximately 9 p.m. on March 9.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident. Authorities reported that the semi-truck, driven by a woman from North Carolina, was traveling eastbound on State Road 28 when it turned into the path of a westbound motorcycle, operated by a man from Selma, Indiana.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver remained on-site and is cooperating with authorities, according to the sheriff’s office.
A third vehicle, also eastbound on State Road 28, may have made contact with debris from the crash; however, no injuries were reported from that vehicle.
All lanes of State Road 28 were closed in both directions following the crash, creating traffic delays. An alert from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) confirmed that the roadway fully reopened around 6:15 a.m. on March 10.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.
