FARGO, N.D. (Local News Wire) – A motorcyclist died following a four-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Avenue and South University Drive on Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. Authorities said a 60-year-old man from Mahnomen, Minnesota, was riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Main Avenue when he ran a red light and collided with a 2023 Subaru Ascent traveling southbound.
The collision ejected the rider, who was then struck by a 2023 Ford F-150. The motorcycle subsequently hit a 2006 Ford Fusion that was stopped behind the pickup truck.
Emergency responders transported the rider to Sanford Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
No other drivers or passengers involved sustained injuries. Road conditions were reported as wet due to light rainfall.
The Fargo Police Department, Fargo Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance responded to the scene. The North Dakota State Patrol is investigating the crash. Witnesses with information are encouraged to contact authorities.
As of 5:07 p.m., the intersection has reopened, although motorists were advised to expect delays during the investigation.
