COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) — A motorcycle crash on Highway 50 killed a 24-year-old Columbus resident Tuesday evening.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the collision occurred before 6:23 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 50 and Hutcherson Road.
Authorities said the motorcyclist, identified as Jimmy Handley, was traveling west when he attempted to pass a pickup truck that was waiting to turn left. The motorcycle collided with the rear of the truck before striking an eastbound vehicle.
Handley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency response included local law enforcement and medical personnel. The incident remains under investigation, and officials have not confirmed any further details about other vehicle occupants or potential injuries.
No lane closures were reported following the crash.
