A motorcyclist died in a collision with a car on Barataria Boulevard in Marrero on Sunday evening, according to Louisiana State Police.
Paris Harris, 47, of Avondale, was traveling south on Barataria when a 2010 Hyundai Elantra made a U-turn in front of him, authorities said. Harris crashed into the Elantra’s passenger side and was ejected from his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle.
Despite wearing a helmet, Harris sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to State Police. The Elantra’s driver was unharmed.
Investigators stated that impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash; however, they collected routine toxicology samples from both drivers. Speed may have contributed to the incident, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing.
