Motorcyclist dies in NC-87 crash while attempting to evade Columbus County deputies.

BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – A motorcyclist died after fleeing from deputies and colliding with a Toyota at NC-87 and Kennedy Store Road on July 6.

The crash occurred at 5:03 p.m., prompting a response from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The driver of the Toyota sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing. No details have been released regarding the reason for the motorcyclist fleeing.

The identity of the deceased motorcyclist is unavailable at this time.

All lanes of NC-87 were closed in both directions north of Riegelwood near Kennedy Store Road following the incident.
