CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A motorcycle accident on Moody Avenue Friday night left a 43-year-old Orange Park man dead and a 41-year-old Miami man critically injured.
The crash occurred around 9:20 p.m. at the intersection with Whipple Court, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Both the motorcycle and a pickup truck were traveling east on Moody Avenue when the pickup slowed to turn left onto Whipple Court.
Authorities reported that the motorcycle attempted to pass the truck in a no-passing zone, colliding with the truck’s left side. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger remains in critical condition at HCA Orange Park Hospital. The truck’s driver, a 24-year-old Orange Park man, was not injured.
Both riders were reportedly not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and no lane closures were reported.
