PETERS TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Route 30 in Franklin County on Friday afternoon, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The incident occurred near Brooklyn Road just before 2:30 p.m. Police identified the victim as Brandon Winterod, 47, of Georgetown, Ohio.
Winterod was reportedly riding a Harley-Davidson Street Glide at an unsafe speed and following a Ford Focus too closely. Authorities stated the Ford slowed to make a left turn, and Winterod was unable to stop in time, colliding with the vehicle.
Police said Winterod attempted to avoid the crash by laying the motorcycle down, but he was thrown forward and struck the rear of the Focus with his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no injuries reported for the occupants of the Ford Focus. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no additional details have been provided at this time.
