A motorcyclist from Rhode Island died in a crash on Interstate 95 in Westwood, Massachusetts, on Wednesday night.
Massachusetts State Police responded to the incident shortly before 9:30 p.m. The right three lanes of I-95 southbound at Mile Marker 28 were closed due to the crash, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
On Thursday, the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that 71-year-old Harris Shippee of Warwick, Rhode Island, succumbed to his injuries. A 70-year-old woman, who was a passenger on Shippee’s three-wheeled motorcycle, was transported to a Boston hospital with serious injuries.
The crash also involved a Jeep Wrangler and a Hyundai Sonata; however, no additional injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
