JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding an officer, following a June 21 pursuit that resulted in serious injury to a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.
According to authorities, the incident began when Trooper Ra’Jean Martin attempted to conduct a traffic stop on 24-year-old Aden Lothar Parker, who was reportedly speeding at 115 mph in a 55 mph zone on the I-295 northbound exit ramp to State Road 21. Parker fled after acknowledging the signal to stop.
During the chase, Parker exhibited “extremely hazardous” driving behavior, committing multiple traffic violations before the pursuit ended when a patrol vehicle crashed, resulting in the trooper’s severe injuries. Parker subsequently abandoned the scene, according to investigators.
Evidence was collected from the scene, and additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues. Parker is currently being held on a $500,003 bond, with conditions including house arrest with GPS monitoring and a driving prohibition.
Trooper Martin is recovering at home and expressed relief upon learning of Parker’s arrest. The Florida Highway Patrol emphasized that dangerous driving behavior will not be tolerated and remains committed to ensuring public safety on the roads.
