STATESVILLE, N.C. – A motorcyclist died following a crash on Midway Road late Tuesday night in Iredell County.
The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. near Storm Lane. Authorities reported that 32-year-old Caleb Pender was riding a 2002 Honda CBR600 motorcycle westbound when he veered off the roadway, struck a fence, and overturned.
Pender was thrown from the motorcycle and was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials indicated that speed and impairment are being investigated as possible contributing factors to the incident. Further details are pending as the investigation continues.
