RED FLAG WARNING ISSUED FOR WESTERN NEVADA

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 AM to 11 PM PDT today for Western Nevada and Eastern Lassen County due to gusty winds and low humidity.

Affected areas include Fire Weather Zones 278 (Eastern Lassen County) and 420 (Northern Sierra Front), which encompasses Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Southern Washoe, Western Lyon, and Far Southern Lassen Counties, among others.

Winds are forecasted between 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph, and humidity levels may drop as low as 9 percent. The combination of these factors raises the risk of rapidly spreading wildfires.

Authorities urge residents to avoid outdoor activities that could ignite flames near dry vegetation and to adhere to local fire restrictions. For further updates, visit weather.gov/reno and livingwithfire.info for safety tips.
