Motorcyclist hospitalized with major injuries following crash in Santa Cruz County.

A motorcycle rider sustained major injuries in a collision with a vehicle on Highway 9 in Santa Cruz County on Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred at 1:15 p.m., leading to the closure of one lane for approximately an hour, according to the California Highway Patrol. The injured rider was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

This incident follows two fatal motorcycle crashes over the weekend. A 28-year-old motorcyclist from New Jersey died after crashing into a pole on Friday, while a 72-year-old man was killed in a van crash into a tree on Highway 17 on Saturday.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding these incidents.
