Motorcyclist in critical condition after collision with utility truck on Highway 48 over the weekend.

A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries after colliding with a CEMC work truck Saturday night on Highway 48 in Montgomery County.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. A 2016 Chevrolet Silverado truck belonging to Cumberland Electric Membership Corp. was traveling south on Highway 48 when it attempted to turn left onto Salem Road. The truck crossed in front of a 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, resulting in a collision with the right side of the truck.

The driver of the truck, 47, was uninjured, but authorities stated that charges are pending against him. The 23-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville via LifeFlight.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
