Motorcycle Rider in Critical Condition Following Crash in Warwick
WARWICK, RI — A motorcycle rider is in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital after a crash involving a Toyota Camry on Warwick Avenue on July 3 at 9:15 p.m.
According to Warwick Police, the male rider, who was on a Honda CBR600, sustained serious injuries including a laceration to the head, despite wearing a helmet. He was transported to the hospital by Warwick Fire Rescue. The female driver of the Toyota Camry was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Authorities said speed was a contributing factor in the collision, which remains under investigation. The motorcycle was traveling south on Warwick Avenue at a high rate of speed when the car, heading north and turning left onto Edgehill Road, entered the intersection.
Emergency personnel closed both northbound and southbound lanes of Warwick Avenue between Church Avenue and Lake Shore Drive to facilitate the investigation.
