Motorcyclist in critical condition following suspected speed-related crash in Kalihi.

KALIHI, Hawaii (Island News) – A 19-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition after a motorcycle collision on the H-1 Freeway early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at 12:27 a.m. while the woman was riding eastbound near the Kalihi area. According to authorities, she sideswiped a vehicle occupied by a 28-year-old man and his 29-year-old passenger.

Emergency responders from Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital. Witnesses reported that she lost control and was ejected onto the roadway. Officials confirmed the woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The 28-year-old man and his passenger were unharmed and remained at the scene. Authorities are investigating the collision, but it is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors.
