A motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries after a canoe fell from a van and caused a multi-vehicle crash in Walker.
According to the Walker Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Hall Street.
Authorities reported that a van traveling south on Wilson Avenue had a canoe improperly secured on its roof. The canoe fell into the road, leading to a northbound vehicle striking it, which subsequently collided with the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Both drivers of the van and the other vehicle reported no injuries.
Police stated that there were no indications of alcohol or drugs contributing to the crash.
Hall Street east of Wilson Avenue was closed for approximately two hours as the Walker Police Crash Investigation Team examined the scene. The roadway has since reopened.
